Estess Coaches meet for yearly conventionIt is a tradition that all Estess coaches from the various countries meet in the middle of December, in Seefeld /AUT, for continuing education and to exchange experiences . Estess founder Håkan Dahlbo summoned for the15th time more than 30 instructors at the hotel Veronika, in order to educate the coaches on and off the court. Fredrik Johansson showed in a very impressive way his newest findings about functional training. The combination of his experiences as a coach and as a doctor makes it very interesting to listen to him. Håkan Dahlbo talked about the new Diploma test, which will take place on the same level in all bases. He mentioned that young kids will have great benefit for the rest of their tennislives, if the basics are well done. Also, Peter Hedlund and Fredrik Oscasson spoke about psychology and physiology. One of the afternoons, Dahlbo, who is also responsible for Tyrolian Junior tennis, invited coaches from the Tyrolian federation to join the group. Harald Mair talked about footwork and showed a video with some exercises from a coaches conference in Stockholm. The highlight of the convention was the Christmas party, where some players like Yvonne Meusbeurger from the Estess academy attended. The Estess founder sent an appeal to the coaches and finally all participants were happy to collect € 928.- for the Klemenschits twins, who suffer from cancer. After 4 days of hard work the instructors were glad to receive the Estess Diploma from Håkan Dahlbo. |

Group Estess donates to Klemschits TwinsOnce a year, in the middle of December, the coaches from Estess have their convention in Seefeld/Austria, in order to get some continuing education and to exchange experiences. During the Christmas party, Hakan Dahlbo, founder of Estess, sent an appeal to his coaches and to the coaches of the Tyrolean Tennis Federation, to support the Klemnschits twins, who suffer from cancer. Since January of this year, they have had to undergo 19 surgeries, which are not covered by their health insurance. Yvonne Meusburger, who has played Fed Cup with the two sisters from Salzburg, told the crowd about the twins' struggle during the past months, and eventually she was happy to be able to raise € 928.- to donate to the twins. In addition there was a raffle of a € 300.- watch for all coaches, who spent for the Klemenschits twins. |

Observations on Ball Watching Written by: Doug King | Sponsored by: |
As difficult as it is to accurately detail the nuances of the physical movements of a tennis stroke, it pales in comparison to the complexities involved in watching the ball that you are going to hit. This is because watching the ball not only involves keeping your eye on the ball but also keeping your mind on the ball.
Many (especially Scott Ford on TennisOne in his series “Playing In The Zone”) have written extensively and luminously about “ball watching.” So, staying in theme with Jim McLennan’s Spring Training schedule for January (Back to the Basics), I would like to chime in with my own personal observations about ball watching, both borrowing on, supporting, and sometimes reinterpreting what Jim, Scott, and others have said before. |

Physical screening in StockholmAn Opinion By Paul Baccanello Professional tennisplayer, ATP ranking 300.
Recently I attended the ESTESS medical centre in Stockholm, Sweden for a medical screening with Fredrik Johansson and found it a most worthwhile experience. To begin with the convenience of the medical centre for those players competing primarily in Europe is excellent. Also the time frame is most appealing; If it wasn't for a delayed flight, I would have been able to have completed all tests and screenings within 36 hours.
